Have your say on HMRC EDI update

Procurement, Supply Chain · April 18, 2016

HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has recently communicated to all customers using EDI to submit their PAYE (Pay As You Earn) and RTI (Real Time Information) data that their intent is to phase out the use of EDI within three years. At this time, HMRC has classified this change as a strategic intent and has not decided upon a replacement option.

As a service provider, Data Interchange has been closely monitoring developments and is committed to ensuring continuity of service provision.

“We are in contact with HMRC and will be meeting with them to discuss alternatives,” said Ewan Friend, Managing Director of Data Interchange. “Expect an update during the summer months, setting out next steps and providing more detail of our engagement with HMRC.”

He added: “A move away from EDI would enable HMRC to update the way in which data is exchanged. This would allow service providers, such as Data Interchange, to ease contractual and financial pressures.”

Data Interchange encourages its customers to provide their feedback, suggestions, questions or concerns by contacting info@datainterchange.com
