3PL is just what Dr Will’s ordered

Logistics, Supply Chain · December 2, 2017

To keep pace with growing online and retailer orders for its range of ketchups and sauces, London-based Dr Will’s has appointed Walker Logistics to manage its downstream B2B and B2C logistics operations.

Dr Will’s had previously handled order fulfilment in-house but, with sales increasing, this had become impractical.

Now, Walker will fulfil e-commerce orders placed via Dr Will’s online portal and deliver pack quantity replenishment stock to Dr Will’s expanding list of retail partners which already includes such well known high street names as Selfridges, Harvey Nichols and Fenwick.

Orders will be picked, packed and shipped directly to online customers and retailers from Walker Logistics’ 250,000 sq ft multi-client warehouse facility just outside Reading.

To ensure that orders arrive with Dr Will’s clients in optimum condition, Walker has worked closely with the company to establish a transit packaging solution that protects the glass sauce bottles in the most cost-effective way.

“It is essential that any glass products are secure in transit and a number of options were trialled before we found an outer packaging and infill combination that provided the level of protection required but, at the same time, enabled costs to be kept within an acceptable level,” explains William Walker, sales director of Walker Logistics.

He added: “Dr Will’s is a relatively young business and outsourcing logistics and order fulfilment to a supply chain specialist will free up the time of key personnel within the organisation to do what they are best at doing – developing new products and focusing on growing their market.”
